Whois Privacy Protection, sometimes also referred to as WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the actual contact information of domain registrants on WHOIS lookup websites. Without protection, the personal name, postal address and email account of any domain name registrant will be publicly accessible. Providing false information during the domain name registration procedure or altering the authentic details subsequently will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the registrant losing their domain name ownership rights. The policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, require that the WHOIS information must be correct and accurate all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by domain registrars as a response to the growing concerns about potential identity theft. If the service is enabled, the domain registrar’s contact details will appear instead of the client’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are some country-code ones that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Website Hosting

If you’ve ordered a website hosting from us and you’ve registered one or more domain names under your account, you’ll be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them easily and to keep your personal details secure. Of course, this will be possible only with the TLD extensions that support such an option. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo to the right of each of your domain names. Its colour will tell you if a domain name is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can enable Whois Privacy Protection with only several clicks of the mouse. Thus, you can protect your personal data even if you have not activated the service during the web hosting account order process. You will be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can activate our Whois Privacy Protection service without any difficulty. This takes just a few clicks in the Hepsia hosting Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you administer everything associated with your semi-dedicated web hosting account. This is the place where you can see all your active domain names and for each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” button, using which you can order, renew or disable the service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-code extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this in advance, so you will not end up paying for a service that we cannot provide.
